They offer a wide variety of steps and styles, including dance classes for adults if Mom or Dad want to get moving too!
Elite is an Edmonton-based dance company owned by eight-time Canadian Ballroom and Latin champion, Dominic Lacroix. Dancers of all ages and abilities are invited to come discover Ballroom, Latin, ballet, hip-hop, and more while fostering self-discipline, respect, and teamwork. With a focus on teaching skills and dance steps in a fun and motivating format, many students consider Elite Dance Studio class to be the best part of their week!
Elite Dance Studio Winter Classes
Registration is open now for Winter classes that will run from January 2024 to June 2024. Elite Dance Studio offers a wide variety of children’s group classes, in multiple genres, for all ages.
Ballet
Pre-Ballet Classes give toddlers (2-4 years) and their parents the opportunity to explore music, movement, balance, and basic dance steps together. Parents will take an active role in supporting their tiny dancer during this fun and friendly class.
Ballet Classes introduce children to basic ballet concepts. Students work on posture, flexibility, coordination and introductory choreography in a fun environment.
Creative Body Movement
Creative Body Movement is filled with dance-play that promotes movement through music in a fun-filled environment. Students will gain body awareness and learn rhythm as they are taught basic dance steps from different genres. This class will encourage kids to get moving and help build strength and flexibility through a wide range of techniques and motor movements.
Hip-Hop
Kids’ hip-hop classes are offered for all skill levels and ages. The beginner program focuses on various hip-hop elements. Students will explore this groove-based style and get to dance to popular music. They also offer Year Long Level 2 Hip-Hop classes (run September to June) for those with previous dance experience.
Children who have previous hip hop experience and also want an even bigger challenge can audition for the Hip Hop Performance classes which also run from September to June. These classes allow students to have continuity in learning their genre of dance and provide the children opportunities to perform at dance festivals or other special events on top of the studio’s recitals.
Ballroom and Latin
Ballroom dance is Elite Dance Studio’s signature style. They offer classes in all ten ballroom and Latin dance styles.
Preschoolers Latin and Ballroom is the perfect introduction for ages 4-6. Young dancers will have fun learning the basics including the Merengue, Chacha, Samba, Waltz, and Quickstep.
Latin and Ballroom Introduction for 7-11 year olds focuses on Latin rhythms in a line dance format with some partner work. Dancers are encouraged to express themselves creatively through dance while learning the Samba, Chacha, Jive, Waltz, Tango and more.
Youth Ballroom/Latin for 11-17 year olds teaches technical skills in a supportive group environment. This class teaches some of the most popular ballroom dances including the Chacha, Waltz, Rumba, Merengue, Jive, and Quickstep. Partnering will be explored, but no partner is required for the class.
Competitor Ballroom Program
Upon completion of the beginner ballroom program, children can proceed with the competitor dance program. This program allows children to train more extensively and is geared to prepare them to compete throughout Western Canada.
