This summer you can sign your kids up to spend a week in nature exploring the beautiful Edmonton River Valley! Alberta Wildlife Federation Youth Conservation Camps offer the perfect opportunity for adventurers ages 8-15 to discover the wonders of nature in their own backyard.

Choose from 4 exciting camp themes in July and August. Each camp offers hands-on exploration and unique outdoor experiences that will connect youth with the plants, animals, and environment around us. These environment-focused camps are equal parts fun and education, with the goal to help adventurers build the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to participate in outdoor activities in a safe, responsible, and ethical manner.

Alberta Wildlife Federation Conservation Camp

Trail Blazers
July 2-5 August 6-9 | Blaze a trail through the natural spaces in Edmonton while learning about survival, active living, and photography! Each day campers will explore a new area of Whitemud Creek or the North Saskatchewan River Valley while hiking, taking photos, and learning key survival skills that help support an active lifestyle.

Aerial Adventurers
July 8-12 • August 12-16 | This exciting camp with have your eyes to the skies, with a focus on bird watching and high-flying fun! Campers will learn about birds, build bird feeders and bug hotels, fly kites, and enjoy an adrenaline-fueled climb up the Snow Valley Aerial Park to get a bird’s eye view of Whitemud Creek.

Earth Enthusiasts
July 15-19 • August 19-23 | Connect with the land while learning land-based skills! This camp will look to Indigenous teachings and the history of the fur trade to learn more about the plants and animals on this land. Campers will enjoy an excursion to Fort Edmonton Park for unique learning opportunities and fun on the Midway!

Water Wanderers
July 22-26 • July 29-August 2 | Get ready to make a splash while exploring the principals of water and learning about sustainable practices! Campers will enjoy water-based activities like pond dipping and fishing, plus a field trip to tour and take a swim in Borden Pool, Canada’s first and only natural swimming pool.

Alberta Wildlife Federation Conservation Camp

Weekly camps will be based out of the Riverbend Community League – Brookside Hall. They will run daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with an additional 15 minutes before and after camp for drop-off and pickup. Campers should come prepared for the outdoors, with a packed lunch and water to refuel during their adventures.

Registration is now open for all Youth Conservation Camps and can be completed through the Alberta Wildlife Federation website. Your child can also get a one-day sampling of the programs by registering in an upcoming PD Day Camp on May 17, 21 or 22.
