Is your child a mini adventurer in the making?
This Summer, Alberta Wildlife Federation invites them to embark on their choice of outdoor adventures in the Edmonton River Valley! Youth Summer Camps offer the perfect opportunity for adventurers ages 7-14 to keep active, meet new friends, and uncover the wonders of nature in their own backyard.
Choose from four exciting camp themes in July and August. Each camp offers ample opportunities to spend time outdoors, with hands-on experiences designed to connect youth with the plants, animals, and environment around us. These environment-focused camps are equal parts fun and education, helping adventurers build the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to participate in outdoor activities in a safe, and ethical manner—skills that can be carried forward to other areas of their lives!
Trail Blazers
July 7-11 | Blaze a trail through the natural spaces in Edmonton while learning about survival, active living, and photography! Each day campers will explore a new area of Whitemud Creek or the North Saskatchewan River Valley while hiking, taking photos, and learning key survival skills that help support an active lifestyle.
Aerial Adventurers
July 14-18 • August 5-8 |Get ready for a sky-high experience with our Aerial Adventurers camp! This thrilling program will have your eyes soaring to the skies as we focus on bird watching and high-flying fun. Campers will immerse themselves in the world of birds, build bird feeders, bug hotels, and kite-flying.
Earth Enthusiasts
July 21-25 • August 11-15 | Connect with the land while learning land-based skills! This camp will look to Indigenous teachings and the history of the fur trade to learn more about the plants and animals on this land. Campers will enjoy an excursion to Fort Edmonton Park for unique learning opportunities and fun on the Midway!
Water Wanderers
July 28-August 1 • August 18-22 | Get ready to make a splash while exploring the principals of water and learning about sustainable practices! Campers will enjoy water-based activities like pond dipping and fishing, plus a field trip to tour and take a swim in Borden Pool, Canada’s first and only natural swimming pool.
Weekly camps will be based out of the Riverbend Community League – Brookside Hall. They will run daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with an additional 15 minutes before and after camp for drop-off and pickup.
