No one should miss out on the fun of summer camp. AdaptAbilities Hearts in Action Summer Camps offer all the adventure, excitement and fun of any other summer camp, while integrating key opportunities for participants to learn and grow.

Hearts in Action camps offer activities tailored and suited to all campers between ages 3 to 14, and are held in various community centres across Edmonton. Each day includes a structured daily routine that prioritizes recreation and motor development, opportunities to build essential life skills, and the chance to build creativity through art activities. Campers will be very active – both indoors and out – and get the chance to explore the community around them through regular field trips.

Each week has a different theme and will include new and purposeful activities, games, projects and adventures. Campers are encouraged to register for one week, or several! Hearts in Action camps have a small, 1:4 staff-to-camper ratio and are facilitated by highly qualified Relief Care Specialists. Before and after-camp support is available at all camps, between 7:30 am and 6 pm. The main goal at every AdaptAbilities camp is to empower campers to grow, succeed, and belong, in a warm, inclusive environment.

 

Summer Camp 2023 Themes:

  • Week 1: July 3 – 7 | Slip n’ Slide into Summer
    This week soaked in adventure will include opportunities to splash around while learning about heat and water safety.
  • Week 2: July 10 – 14 | Space in the Place
    Reach for the stars with a week of cosmic creations and learning about outer space.
  • Week 3: July 17 – 21 | Time Travelers
    This blast into the past will have campers exploring all the wonders of the world through geography, famous landmarks, and new cultures.
  • Week 4: July 24 – 28 | A Symphony of Five Senses
    This week of discovery will ignite all senses with activities focused on tasting, touching, seeing, hearing, and smelling.
  • Week 5: July 31 – August 4 | Wonders of the Circus
    Pretend you are clowning around under the Big Top with this full week of circus themed crafts and games.
  • Week 6: August 8 – 11 | Mighty Scientists
    Prepare to get a little messy with this explosive week of scientific eruptions, chemical reactions, and slime-making experiments.
  • Week 7: August 14 – 18 | AdaptAbilities’ Got Talent
    Campers will enjoy their time in the spotlight with this action-packed week exploring their musical and creative talents.
  • Week 8: August 21 – 25 | Summer Safari
    End the summer with this wild ride learning about the animals in the jungle and savanna, making safari snacks, and trying out jungle yoga.

AdaptAbilities is also proud to offer other specialty camp options suited to a wider range of ages and abilities. Be sure to check the website for all the options for teens through to adults, including an Inclusion Camp program to help those interested in external community camps to attend with the support of an AdaptAbilities staff member.
