To me, summer camp brings to mind memories of goofy songs by the campfire, late night giggle sessions, mosquito bites and solemn promises to meet back next year. For many lucky campers, those magical memories are created at Camp YoWoChAs.
With a focus on leadership and character development, Camp YoWoChAs offers kids an amazing outdoor experience. Camps run Monday to Friday each week (with the exception of session 5, which runs Tuesday-Friday.) Day camps are offered for kids aged 4-12, with overnight camps available for those aged 6-16. We can tell you that the days are spent doing awesome activities with intensively trained counsellors (not that they will need their CPR/first aid skills, but rest assured, they have them!) getting to know fellow campers, camp leaders and themselves better, but what exactly does a typical day in the life of a Camp YoWoChAs camper hold?
7:30 Up and at ‘em! Take an early morning “Polar Dip” or some other form or morning madness to get your energy up for the day ahead
8:15 Breakfast
9:15 Flag raising and a rousing rendition of O Canada before getting ready for your morning adventure
9:30 An activity with your cabin group. Every day is a little different with themes and fun. The activity could include time on the zip line and climbing wall, archery, canoeing, stand up paddling, shelter building, fire building, sailing and more!
10:45 Break
11:00 Check out another cool activity with your cabin group
12:30 Lunch
1:30 Recharge! The days are long and full of adventure at Camp YoWoChas, you’ll need a little downtime to keep up!
2:30 Choose your own adventure! Similar to cabin group activities, here is your chance to participate in the fun with kids from different age groups and make friends in other cabins
4:00 Get your swimsuit on! It’s time to go swimming!
5:30 Supper
6:45 Gold Diggers—you’ll have to come to camp to find out!
7:45 Wide Game Time: The whole camp comes together to play a huge game, sometimes out in the woods. Some of the faves are Capture the Flag, Mission Impossible and Survival
8:45 Snack: You’ve earned it!
9:00 Campfire
9:45 Bedtime! Sleep soundly, there’s another fun filled day of adventure waiting for you tomorrow!
Can you think of a better way to spend a week of summer days? All that fun is really popular and camp is filling up quick.
