Charmed Resorts began with just 3 cottages when it opened in 2021, and quickly exploded in popularity with families interested in the one-of-a-kind glamping experience. Each new cottage addition to the resort has gotten bigger and more intricate, while maintaining the fairytale charm and quaint appeal that Charmed Playhouses first become known for.

Charmed Resorts is broken into two areas – Storybook Square and Wonder Way. Storybook Square was the first to be developed and is home to  Gingerbread Cottage, Midsummer Cottage, Rumplestiltskin’s Cottage, Jack’s Cottage, Elvyn’s Cottage, Lia’s Cottage, and Rapunzel’s Tower. Wonder Way is still under development and is currently home to Belle’s Cottage, the Lost Boys’ Treehouse, Wendy’s Townhouse, Captain Hook’s Ship, Hatter’s House, and the soon-to-open Beast’s Castle. We can’t wait to see how their very first castle turns out!

For our stay, we were thrilled to see Hooks Pirate Ship was still available and quickly jumped on the opportunity to indulge our inner pirates. It was hard picking just one, but I don’t think you can go wrong booking a stay in any of these unique handcrafted cottages.

Since they are built by the Playhouse Masters, most of the cottages incorporate at least one outdoor play element like a swing or a slide. Interactive touches like scavenger hunts, shadow puppet theatres, and hidden rooms inside the cottages enhance the magical experience. From the exterior design to the interior decorating, everything has been carefully thought out and curated using characters and elements from the original fairytales they are inspired by.

Most of the Charmed Resort cottages comfortably sleep 6 people, making this the perfect choice for families of almost all sizes. Each comes fully equipped with a bathroom, small kitchenette area, outdoor grill, picnic table, fire pit, and wood-fired hot tub. You can bring your own food to prepare and enjoy, or dine at the nearby options in the small town of Blairmore. The resort is also a short distance from a variety of attractions and recreation options including the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre, the Bellevue Underground Mine, Crowsnest pass Golf Club, Pass Powderkeg Ski Area, and fantastic hiking trails like Allison Creek Falls.

Our stay at Charmed Resorts was just as amazing as we had anticipated. We had an fabulous night’s stay in Hooks Pirate Ship, with my 11 year going so far as to proclaim the mattress, pillows and blankets all made for the best sleep of her life. It felt fantastic to escape our day to day lives and wake up to the sun shining through the beautiful stained glass windows at the back of the ship! We loved being able to see all the different fairytale cottages nestled amongst the pine trees and mountains, and we have already begun debating which one to stay in on our next visit.
