Deep Freeze: A Byzantine Winter Fête is proud to be celebrating their 15th year of bringing winter festival fun to Edmonton! Celebrate the coming together of Ukrainian, Métis, French Canadian, Inuit, and Indigenous cultures with light installations, ice sculptures, cultural stories and artistic workshops. Experience all the beauty and enchantment of winter at this 10 day festival that takes place in 3 signature locations across the city.

1. The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse

Visit The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse  throughout the festival to enjoy coffee, snacks and entertainment! Catch a workshop, or visit on weekends for live music.

2. Pipon Village

When: January 15, 16, 22 & 23

Visit Pipon village on weekends during Deep Freeze to learn more about Indigenous Trappers, Tipi’s and Traditions. Step into one of the on-site tipi’s to find storytellers, bannock, and games that teach us about the rich ancestral heritage of our city.

3. Borden Park

Illumination Magic Visit Borden Park every evening to walk among giant lantern sculptures and spectacular ice carving creations by world-renowned Edmonton artists. Learn about Ukrainian, Francophone, Indigenous, Inuit and Métis folklore through the animals and mythical creatures all along this magical winter ice and light promenade.

Cool Runnins’ Deep Freezer Races | January 14, 15, 22 & 23 | 4 pm – 8 pm Join a fun and comical race around Borden Park in a Deep Freezer! *Weather Permitting

The Trollsons | January 22 & 23 Meet this hilarious and magical family of trolls hailing from the Scandinavian Forests. They will be roaming Borden Park with their friendly polar bear and reindeer as they tell jokes, sing songs, dance, make music and mingle with visitors to the park.

Firework | January 22 | 6 pm A dazzling fireworks display will be set off from the soccer field of Borden Park on Saturday, January 22 at 6 pm. *Weather Permitting
