The goal of Edmonton Forest School is to foster young student’s relationship with the natural world and build meaningful connections with the land. Children will have the opportunity to explore, play, and learn in the same natural space over all four seasons, developing a deeper appreciation for the changing wonders of nature. Play will be the primary vehicle for learning and skill development, with ample opportunity for children to feed their curiosity through self-discovery.

Classes at Edmonton Forest School are mainly held outdoors, with an indoor facility available for short breaks and shelter from extreme weather conditions. Your child should come dressed for the weather and prepared to take risks and get dirty. They will learn to embrace all aspects of nature and have fun challenging their minds and bodies as they hike trails, climb trees, dig for hidden treasures, and play in the dirt, leaves, and snow. A low learner-to-educator ratio (7:1) will ensure a safe and supportive environment for all learners.

Edmonton Forest School offers full-day, half-day, and once-a-week program options that run from September to June. Classes meet in your choice of two spectacular river valley locations; Gold Bar Park, or the new pilot location in Kinsmen Park. Discover the full class schedule here.
