Friendships, fun activities and opportunities to explore are all waiting for your girls aged 5 to 17 at Girl Guides of Canada. For over 100 years, Girl Guides of Canada has been empowering youth through weekly meetings, outdoor adventures, and community initiatives tailored to each age and stage of life; it’s a space where girls tackle challenges and learn skills that contribute to their lifelong success. Along the way, they make unforgettable memories at camp, meet and develop friendships with mentors and other Girl Guides, and contribute to their community in a meaningful way. With branches across Edmonton in each community, there is bound to be a convenient location for your child to start their journey as a part of Girl Guides of Canada.
It’s never too late to join Guiding! While children can start at age 5, Girl Guides embrace girls at any stage! Each level within the organization is tailored with age-appropriate activities that build as the years go by. Whether your child is embarking on their first experience at age 5 or looking to join a welcoming and supportive community at age 15, no experience is needed for girls to join.
Girl Guides of Canada
Sparks (ages 5 – 6): Girls gain their first experience with Guiding as they participate in fun games, create arts and crafts, and explore their local area, setting them up to discover their skills and strengths.
Embers (ages 7 – 8): Encourages girls to try a new activity, strengthen friendships, take risks and increase their confidence through nature experiences, games, arts and crafts, and learning opportunities.
Guides (ages 9 – 11): Girls will learn about leadership and embrace independence as they embark upon the signature Guides program. Through exploring digital citizenship, camping outdoors, and acting as mentors to younger Girl Guides, youth will build confidence and strengthen bonds to their community.
Pathfinders (ages 12 -14): Opportunities for further development abound as Pathfinders continue to hone their personal strengths and leadership skills. Along the way, they will enjoy hiking, mentoring younger girls, and engaging in local committees and groups.
Rangers (ages 15 – 17): This is the time to start thinking about the future beyond secondary school, and what better way than to connect with mentors and get hands-on experience in a variety of career fields? Youth enrolled in Rangers will not only support younger groups but will also learn valuable skills such as resume-writing, budgeting, and other core skills for their future.
