Since 1984, Progressive Academy has offered independent private schooling, with excellent results, for families in Edmonton. Programming begins with their exceptional early learning program for 3 and 4 year old students, and continues to Grade 12.
Literacy and numeracy are the focus of the preschool program, but interwoven with math, vocabulary and language lessons are opportunities to build life skills like problem solving and teamwork, to navigate technology and to explore creativity. Balanced growth, intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially, is emphasized for all students.
Students are kept busy throughout the full-day learning experience. Each day includes plenty of opportunities to move, dance, run and stretch. Creativity is explored regularly with music and art classes. Concepts of math and language are blended into play. Progressive Academy’s phonics program empowers many preschool students to begin sounding out words, and even to read and write, before entering the Senior Kindergarten program. Field trips and guest presenters are also a regular part of the preschool routine.
Progressive Academy is located centrally in Edmonton’s Glenora neighbourhood, close to the city’s beautiful river valley and with easy access to downtown. The school includes a technology centre, auditorium, full-size gymnasium, two performance stages, library, music room and art classrooms. Registration is now open for the 2019/2020 school year.
