Pitch in to help restore wildlife habitats along the Sturgeon River at the 16th annual City of St. Albert Clean and Green Riverfest. Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 23, 2023 and invite your family, neighbours, community group, school, or co-workers to be part of this exciting community-building event that impacts our environment in a positive way!

The Sturgeon River is a small prairie-fed river that passes through several cities, small communities, agricultural areas, and the traditional lands of First Nations and Métis peoples before joining the North Saskatchewan River at Fort Saskatchewan. Hundreds of thousands of people rely on the Sturgeon River Watershed and simple actions like cleaning up litter and planting trees can make a world of difference for the plants and animals that call it home.

Last year’s Clean and Green Riverfest event welcomed over 200 volunteers who helped clean up over 90 bags of litter and plant 485 trees! Volunteers will be supplied with everything needed including gloves, bags, and garbage pickers for litter clean-up, and shovels and gloves for tree planting. During the event you can also look forward to a free BBQ lunch, live music, and the chance to learn something new at the Environment Fair.

The Clean and Green Riverfest is proudly hosted by the City of St. Albert Spruce Up St. Albert clean-up and beautification program. Spruce Up St. Albert organizes a variety of activities throughout the summer season that promote environmental stewardship and keep the community looking its best. This video highlights their initiatives, including a look at last year’s Clean and Green Riverfest:
