Festival Place

The performing arts take center stage at Festival Place! Choose from dance, musical theatre, movie making and more at this state-of-the-art performance venue and theatre located in beautiful Broadmoor Lake Park. There are even combined performing and visual arts camps for those who want to experience a little of everything.

Gallery@501

For the full gambit of visual arts, there’s no better spot to be than Gallery@501! This hub for contemporary arts and crafts is conveniently located in the Community Centre and offers everything from painting, printmaking and sculpture to writing and cartooning. At Gallery@501 Summer Camps, kids will explore a variety of art mediums, tour the art on display in the gallery and create exciting art projects.

Feature Camps

  • Wild Crafts and Métis Arts (Ages 9-12) | July 14-18, 2025
    Explore nature and art in this unique camp inspired by Métis culture and provided in partnership with Métis Knowledge Keepers. Camp will be divided between the Strathcona Wilderness Centre and Gallery@501, with activities ranging from nature walks, games, and nature-inspired crafts, to traditional Métis beadwork and design.
  • Mural Mentorshop Camp (Ages 12-16) -Bilingual | July 21-25, 2025
    Local artists Theo Donovan and Rin Wilson from Gallery@501 invite youth to be part of an exciting public mural project at Festival Place! Campers will get hands-on experience designing a life-size mural, selecting a color palette, and mastering painting techniques while working on an actual outdoor mural for the community to enjoy. This is a Bilingual art camp that will include instruction in both French and English.
  • The Science of Art and Photography Camp (Ages 9-12) | July 28-August 1, 2025
    Discover the connection between art and science while learning about photography and art making! Campers will spend the week both in the studio and outdoors while experimenting with watercolour, photography, cyanotype, sculpture, and more. Bring your own digital camera and charging cord and be ready to be inspired by the amazing nature and public art in the area!
  • Young Author and Artist Camp (Ages 9-12) | August 11-15, 2025
    Budding artists and authors will find fun and inspiration in this camp led by author Debby Waldman. Campers will explore folk tales and fairy tales while learning how to write their stories with strong characters and exciting plots. This literary focused arts camp will also include art projects with the Gallery@501 instructors and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Strathcona Library.

Smeltzer House Visual Arts Centre

Smeltzer House Visual Arts Centre shares the love of art and craft with campers of all skill levels. They are proud to offer three unique and well-equipped studios where creativity flourishes – a place where students come together to create, connect, and dream! From painting, drawing, crafting, and working with clay to glass fusing and fibre arts, there are countless delightful experiences awaiting you at the centre this summer.
