Festival Place

The performing arts take center stage at Festival Place! Choose from dance, musical theatre, movie making and more at this state-of-the-art performance venue and theatre located in beautiful Broadmoor Lake Park. There are even combined performing and visual arts camps for those who want to experience a little of everything.

  • Show Time! Drama & Dance (Ages 6-12)

    Youth can dive into the world of performing arts with this camp focused on dancing, acting, and performing. Campers will learn to use body, voice, mind, and imagination to become a theatrical character, plus learn to hop, leap, and spin in choreographed routines. At the end of the week, a collaborative performance will showcase their new skills for family and friends.
  • Adventure in Other Worlds (Ages 6-12)
    Register here – Adventure in Other Worlds – July 7-14
    Enjoy the best of both worlds with this combination performing and visual arts camp that will take place between Festival Place and Gallery@501. Campers will create their own works of art inspired by the surreal sculptures at the Gallery, then bring their creations to life through an interpretive performance of their own.

For the full gambit of visual arts, there’s no better spot to be than Gallery@501! This hub for contemporary arts and crafts is conveniently located in the Community Centre and offers everything from painting, printmaking and sculpture to writing and cartooning. Summer Camp options will allow youth to explore a variety of artistic mediums and learn more about the inner workings of the gallery.

  • Behind the Scenes Gallery Camp (Ages 9-12)

    Become a curator for the week with Gallery@501! Campers will enjoy a unique behind-the-scenes look at the the inner workings of the gallery, then have the opportunity to curate their own mini exhibition with artistic pieces they have created during the week.
  • Young Author and Artist Camp (Ages 9-12)
    Register here – Young Author and Artist Camp – July 10-14
    Budding artists and authors will find fun and inspiration in this camp led by popular children’s author Lorna Schultz Nicholson. Campers will learn how to move from idea to finished product and gain helpful insight on editing and publishing fiction and non-fiction works. This literary focused arts camp will also include a behind-the-scenes tour of the Strathcona Library.

Smeltzer House

The Clay Hut at the historic Smeltzer House is ranked as one of the best pottery studios in the province and has all the tools and materials to create brilliant works of ceramic and beyond. Visual arts camps offered in this location allow for tactile artistic exploration through unique materials like clay, paint, glass, recycled materials, and fabric.
