It appears that many of the Summerside residents that go all out for Halloween have an equal affinity for Christmas. This time of year you can see several of the same houses along Summerside Grande Boulevard brightly lit with Christmas lights, festive decorations and joyful inflatables! With so many beautifully decorated homes in one area, it is worth making Grande Boulevard a destination for seeing Christmas lights in Edmonton this holiday season.
Our family loves taking a drive or stroll down Summerside Grande Boulevard at this time of year. When the weather is warm enough, we like taking the dogs along for walk to admire the lights and decorations up close. On colder nights, it is fun to take a slow drive drive up and down both sides of the street to take in all the brightly lit homes. Since we live right in the neighborhood, it is also not uncommon for me to make it a driving detour on my way home from shopping or errands in December. There’s always something I may have missed!
We all really enjoy the lights and decorations down Edmonton’s famed Candy Cane Lane, but get overwhelmed by the busy traffic and chaos. While it is not quite on the same caliber as Candy Cane Lane, The Summerside Grande Boulevard Christmas lights are a great alternative – especially for those located in the southeast quadrant of the city. I would estimate a good fifty per cent of the homes are decorated so there is plenty for your family to ooh and ahh over as you make your way down the Boulevard.
And, if you are walking the Boulevard, there is even a fun photo spot to stop and take a selfie with Santa. There are no masks or social distancing required for this photo with Santa!
