The YMCA of Northern Alberta offers an exciting lineup of fall programs for children and youth of all ages. Whether your child loves swimming, sports, science, art, dance, or discovering new interests, there’s a fun, welcoming program designed to help them build confidence, make friends, and stay active this season!
NEW Programming for Fall 2026: Esports (9-12 years) and Creative Expressions (2-3 years parented)
This fall, the YMCA is bringing its engaging child and youth programs to locations across Edmonton. YMCA members receive priority registration and significant discounts on popular programs, including swimming lessons, Junior Lifeguard Club, Preschool Craft & Splash, soccer, basketball, volleyball, multi-sport, and hip hop!
This year, they’ve added Esports for 9- to 12-year-olds at all locations in Edmonton. That’s right! Your young gamer can learn tips and tricks for their favourite games, while developing problem-solving and teamwork skills, all mixed in with a physical literacy component as well.
Creative Expressions is also expanding on their age range (for ages 3 to 12 years) with a new parented class for younger creators between ages 2 to 3 who are eager to discover the joy of songs, stories, crafts and creative exploration. Through engaging, hands-on activities and open-ended play, each session inspires imagination, nurtures curiosity, and encourages learning through play.
Registration opens August 4, 2026 for YMCA Enhanced members and August 11, 2026 for YMCA Essential members and the general public. Browse the full lineup now at ymcanab.ca/register.
Aquatic Programs
Help your child build confidence in and around the water with YMCA aquatics programs. Designed for children and youth from infancy to age 15, swim lessons and aquatic clubs teach essential life-saving skills in a fun, supportive environment. Experienced instructors help every swimmer progress at their own pace while developing confidence, independence, and lifelong water safety skills.
Sports & Recreation Programs
Keep kids active all fall with YMCA sports and recreation programs. With age-appropriate activities for every stage, participants can develop new skills, stay healthy, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment. Program offerings vary by location and include basketball, floor hockey, multi-sport, soccer, judo, volleyball, pickleball, badminton, and more!
Arts, Culture & Science Programs
Encourage creativity and curiosity through YMCA arts, culture, and science programs. Children can explore inventions, experiments, and nature in Science Explorers or build confidence through music, acting, and choreography in Musical Theatre. With a variety of creative opportunities available, there’s something for every young artist and inventor.
Preschool Programs
Even the youngest learners can join the fun! Parented and independent preschool programs help children develop confidence, social skills, and physical literacy through play. Multi-Sport introduces children ages two and up to a different sport each week, creating a fun foundation for lifelong physical activity.
Teen Nights
Friday nights are for fun at the YMCA! Teens ages 12-18 (Grades 7-12) can enjoy recreational sports, fitness activities, group classes, games, and opportunities to connect with friends in a safe, supervised environment. Teen Nights are a great way to stay active, meet new people, and kick off the weekend!
Leaders in Training
The YMCA’s nine-month Leaders in Training (LIT) program helps youth ages 12-17 build leadership skills while making lasting friendships. Through team-building activities, volunteer experiences, and workshops led by community leaders, participants develop practical skills, confidence, and a strong sense of community involvement.
