Summer may be fleeting, but it is not too late to spend some time out on our beautiful North Saskatchewan River! Edmonton Rowing Club invites ages 13 to 17 to join them on the water this September 19-23, 2022 for Youth Learn to Row. It is the perfect opportunity to register with a friend and come discover this exciting sport together!
Learn to Row programs are a one week introduction to rowing by qualified and enthusiastic Rowing Canada instructors. No previous experience is needed and all equipment and PFD’s (Personal Flotation Devices) will be provided. During the week rowers of all skill levels will learn the basics of rowing movement, safety, terminology and commands and becoming a competent oarsperson.
Learn to Row lessons are taught out of the Edmonton Rowing Club, located in Buena Vista Park by the Valley Zoo. Instruction is a combination of on-land and on-water, with practice both in the rowing shells and at the indoor training tank. Safety is always top priority, with river and weather conditions being watched closely and adaptions made to the training schedule accordingly.
Edmonton Rowing Club has been proudly serving the Edmonton and the Capital Region since 1974. They offer a variety of programs year round including introductory programs, drop-in recreational rowing, and more structured competitive programs for juniors, open class and masters. For those who enjoy Learn to Row, the trained coaching staff will be happy to help choose the right program to continue their journey in the sport. Best of all, the $290 Youth Learn to Row registration fee will be fully applied to membership for those who decide to carry on in the junior program!
Register through the Edmonton Rowing Club website today for your chance to get out on the water and experience this great sport! There are both Youth and Adult Learn to Row options available this Fall. It is the perfect way to enjoy some fun and fitness and while admiring those beautiful colours in our river valley!
