Did you think The Halifax Jazz Festival was just for grown-ups? Think again! Come down to the waterfront and chill out at one of the best Summer Festivals Halifax has to offer, with tons of FREE programs for kids. Now, that’s something to sing about! Here’s how to get the best out of The 2018 Halifax Jazz Festival with Kids:
Main Stage Programming:
The Jazz festival is FREE at the Main Stage (Lower Water St. and Salter St.) during the daytime with an atmosphere perfect for young and old alike. Last year, the Halifax Jazz festival offered a Kidzone with craft tables and fun activities, plus local vendors, bike racks, washrooms and seating. We’re hoping they’re going to do it again this year!
Relax at the Park Series – family-friendly jazz in the great outdoors!
Halifax Hydrostone Park: Saturday July 14th and Sunday July 15th 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Dartmouth Peace Pavillion (Ferry Terminal Park): Saturday July 14th 10:00am – 2:00pm
Jazz Labs at the Library:
Get ready for some fun family jazz labs at your local Halifax library. Check the Jazz Festival schedule for details!
SPLASH! BANG! BOOM! Aboard Tall Ship Silva:
How about some Jazz aboard Tall Ship Silva?
From Thursday July 12th to Saturday July 14th, with sailings at 10:00 am, the Silva will sail around Halifax Harbour while the lively, entertaining and talented musicians Inti Gonzales (Thursday), Bianca Palmer (Friday) and Ross Burns (Saturday), show everyone on board some basic rhythms using simple percussion instruments. This event is FREE. Please arrive early for boarding as space is limited, first come, first served. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and no pre-registration is accepted.
