We recently found another trail in Saskatoon that we fell in love with. A Crocus Prairie hike was just what we needed. This Saskatoon spot is beautiful. We enjoyed getting outside on a beautiful day, enjoying the stunning views, and going on a crocus hunt. We were able to get a lot of photos of the beautiful Spring flowers. Hikes like this are an amazing way to be reminded of just what a beautiful city we live in. It is pretty cool that we get to step out of the city and enjoy the beautiful trails without actually having to leave the city.

We chose this trail because we also wanted to look for a crocus! I’ve never gone on a crocus hunt (to look but not pick) and I was excited to look for them with my son and sister to celebrate Spring. We weren’t sure how many we would find and ended up seeing so many!

Like, true adventurers, it did not take us long to leave the main trail and find some paths leading to the river. There are so many options. I think every time you go could feel like a new experience because of all the paths. We did a lot of hiking on all sorts of different trails.

We had gone to the Farmers’ Market earlier in the morning and grabbed some food to eat on our hike. There were no picnic tables so we each found the perfect rock and enjoyed the wonderful view. We saw a few other hikers on the path below, we watched the birds by the river, and we had our first crocus sighting.

We continued along the trails until we found our way back to the main trail. My son brought a monster truck with him so he had fun racing the truck while we walked. He also enjoyed asking every person with a dog if he could pet their dog. We saw a lot of crocuses on our way and my boy made sure to stop and smell the flowers at every stop.

We had such a beautiful day and we can’t wait to return back when the world is a bit more green. (It’s getting there!) We love being able to find hiking adventures right in Saskatoon. If you’re looking for a wonderful place where your little ones can run off some energy, this spot is a great idea.
