We spent our Thursday afternoon meeting the Snowbirds at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum. The museum hosted everybody with a delicious barbeque. We ate and enjoyed touring the museum while the Snowbirds flew over Saskatoon. We didn’t see as much of the flight from our location but we saw them in the air and got to see them roll in after they landed.

We cannot recommend it enough if you haven’t been to the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum and Learning Centre. My son LOVES everything about it, especially the interactive parts. He loves to hop into the planes/helicopters and either save the day or search for a parachute.  We could probably spend hours on one plane but not on the day we went, there were TOO many other kids that wanted to hop on as well.

The Snowbirds were flying over Saskatoon for about an hour and the crowd was excited even through the short rainfall! The line-up for the barbeque was full of people but worth it. It moved quickly so nobody had to wait long. The food was REALLY good and the price of the barbeque covered admission as well.

This one was already there so my son knew what he was looking for in the sky. It was chilly out but we enjoyed looking at everything inside and outside of the museum.

Watching them pull up and climb out was actually pretty cool. I was worried my son would be sad that he missed the show but he was excited to see them drive up. He cheered and oohed and ahhed along with the rest of us and he couldn’t wait to meet them all.

We were lucky enough to see a few sightings while waiting. We had fun waiting to spot them over us.

When I was young, I went to a few of the airshows in Moose Jaw and really enjoyed them. This was a different experience because we actually got to meet and greet the pilots after. I do want to take my son to an airshow someday but this was a nice introduction for him and there was no better place to learn about them.

Meet and Greet

We walked around and my son got all the autographs and we made sure to take photos with all of the pilots. This was the only one I made it in but my son made sure he gave them all a thank you and a hug with the photos.

Meet and Greet

The Snowbirds were busy but they made sure to talk to my son and let him ask questions. We had a great afternoon at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum and are thankful that it’s so close to us in Saskatoon. If you want to visit the museum, they are at 5 Hangar Road (corner of 47th Street W & Hangar Rd) in Saskatoon. They also host a Friday BBQ at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum throughout the summer.
