One of Saskatoon’s favourite winter festivals is back and as always it’s full of free events for your family all week long. Nutrien WinterShines is a way for Saskatoon to celebrate an amazing season. From fine food to winter fun, this festival has something for everyone. It has been described as a nice, warm and cozy hug to keep you happy and warm during winter. This event is the perfect way to spend time with your children during the break to participate in winter action back at the original location, Market Square at River Landing.

Things you can do at Nutrien Wintershines 2024

Soup Cook-offs Co-presented by TCU Place

Check out some of the best soups in Saskatoon prepared by the city’s greatest chefs! On Sunday, February 18 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm grab tickets for the Novice competition. From home cooks to students to chefs in the workplace! You can vote for your favourite soup. On Wednesday, February 21 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm, get ready for the YXE Soup Master Competition. The best of the best will compete and you can vote for your favourite.

Sleigh Rides

On February 17. 18, and 19, enjoy the beautiful winter views while on a magical horse-drawn wagon ride with those you love.

Fun For the Kids

Everybody loves visiting a Petting Zoo. This one comes with Pony Rides for your children. Ride a pony and feed an adorable animal. Your kids can also get their faces painted and take part in outdoor games like Jenga and Schlockey (you’ll have to stop by to find out how to play)! Kids will love the snow park with 7 days of outdoor fun and you can complete a scavenger hunt to be entered in for prizes.

Telescope Star Gazing

Find out more about telescope star gazing with Tim Yaworski – he refers to it as astrolography (photography by telescope). You can see views of the Moon and Jupiter and more depending on the night sky.

Learn to Start a Fire (Hosted by The Saskatchewan Archeological Society)

You and your family can find out how to start a fire and follow it up by roasting marshmallows on the fire pit.  This is a fun and amazing way for the little ones to learn some fire safety and warm up simultaneously.

Sparkle in the Park

You can watch an Ice Carving live challenge on February 17 and again on February 19. There will be a lot of chances to stroll through the festival site and take a look at all the amazing ice carvings. The ice slide is always a hit with kids and adults alike.
