Celebrating its 30th Season in 2019, Bard on the Beach is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare Festivals. Presented in a magnificent setting on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park, the Festival offers Shakespeare plays, related dramas, and several special events in two performance tents from June through September.
Family Days: Bard on the Beach is celebrating families! Expose your kids to Shakespeare early and they’ll be hooked for life. We’ve taken our sons (now 8 & 10 years) to Bard on the Beach for three years running. Prior to the performance, we make sure they were familiar with the play’s plotline. The staging by Bard on the Beach makes it so the kids were entertained throughout despite not understanding every word uttered. For 2019, Bard on the Beach has changed the Family Nights into Family Days (yay for 2 pm matinee performances)! Three Family Days are designated for the 2019 season: July 6, August 10 & 24. There is even family-package pricing available, you just need to call the Bard Box Office at 604-737-0625. The family-friendly production for the 2019 season is The Taming of the Shrew.
