April 7, 2020: Please note this event has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Bard on the Beach has indicated the shows programmed for 2020 will be moved forward to 2021.

Bard on the BeachCelebrating its 31st Season in 2020, Bard on the Beach is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare Festivals. Presented in a magnificent setting on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park, the Festival offers Shakespeare plays, related dramas, and several special events in two performance tents from June through September.

The plays for 2020 are:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Henry V
Love’s Labour Lost
Paradise Lost

Family Days: Bard on the Beach is celebrating families! Expose your kids to Shakespeare early and they’ll be hooked for life. We’ve taken our sons (now 9 & 11 years) to Bard on the Beach for four years running. Prior to the performance, we make sure they were familiar with the play’s plotline. The staging by Bard on the Beach makes it so the kids were entertained throughout despite not understanding every word uttered. Three Family Days (2pm performances) are designated for the 2020 season: July 4, August 22 & September 13. There is even family-package pricing available, you just need to call the Bard Box Office at 604-737-0625. The family-friendly production for the 2020 season is Midsummer Night’s Dream.
