Bard on the Beach is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare Festivals. Presented in a magnificent setting on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park, the Festival offers Shakespeare plays, related dramas, and several special events in two performance tents from June through September.

The plays for 2023 are:
As You Like It

Julius Caesar
Henry V
Goblin: Macbeth

Family Days: Expose your kids to Shakespeare early and they’ll be hooked for life. We’ve taken our sons (now 11 & 13 years) to Bard on the Beach for four years running (COVID thru a wrench in our regular attendance; we can’t wait to return this year). Two Family Days (2pm performances) are designated for the 2023 season: July 16 and August 20. There is even family-package pricing available, you just need to call the Bard Box Office at 604-737-0625. The family-friendly production for the 2023 season is As You Like It.

Family Days are also Relaxed Performances, where Bard on the Beach welcomes people to the theatre who may enjoy a more casual environment. During these performances, there is an open and encouraging attitude towards audience members moving, making noise, and exiting/entering the auditorium freely. Relaxed Performances also offer a good introductory experience if you’re attending Bard for the first time!
