Bring the whole family and learn how to get involved in taking action to help support wild birds! Visit the VanDusen Botanical Garden Saturday February 19th to learn the basics of birdwatching as a family-friendly outdoor activity, and then participate as a citizen scientist in the Great Backyard Bird Count, an impactful global initiative helping to count our local bird species. Together we’ll learn the basics of bird identification, explore what it is to be a citizen scientist, and practice our skills as a group before heading out to the garden for a 15-minute observation session to count some of the birds found at VanDusen Botanical Garden. Worried that you don’t know a Sparrow from a Towee, a Bushtit from a Kinglet? Never fear—this program is aimed at new and aspiring birdwatchers, from young to old!

Admission: $15 (includes admission to the Garden)
