You’ve been to their shows and seen the incredible productions performed on the Waterfront Stage and at Performance Works. Now your child is begging to be a part of the fun, inclusive, and thriving Carousel Theatre team. What better way to encourage a love of the stage than with Carousel Theatre Summer Camps, specially designed to encourage young actors, develop a love of play, and provide the skills needed for success on and off the stage?

Engagement in the world of theatre opens many doors for young people. The discipline cultivates their imagination, expands their teamwork skills, hones their focus, and builds their confidence and self-expression. Enrolling your child in the summer camps offered by Carousel Theatre for Young People will provide them with skills that last a lifetime.

Carousel Theatre for Young People summer camps are active and participatory; they encourage independent thinking and collaboration with others. Through theatre, young people are encouraged to step into the lives of others, a stepping stone to building empathy and awareness of the world around them. Summer camps are available for ages 6-12 for students looking to explore the world of theatre and theatrical processes.

The camps introduce school-age participants to the creative world of theatre through games, storytelling, improvisation, and character creation. They will learn to use theatre techniques to explore creativity and individual expression. The young actors will gain performance tools while sharing their ideas in a collaborative space.

Drama Summer Camps | Ages 6-12

Do you have a little one who loves to act? Learning drama skills is the key to success in many areas of life. During this summer camp, students will learn character development, tone, and articulation when speaking on stage, and how to read, interpret, and perform short scenes. Through storytelling, improvisation, games, and character creation, students will develop performance tools while sharing their ideas in a collaborative space. Student perspectives and interests will inform theatre-making methods for exploring and creating new works in small groups, large ensembles, and even solo acting. Then, work with Artist Educator Ashley Chodat to co-create a show from the ground up using the newly acquired skills. At the end of the week, families and friends will be invited to see the final product. During the camp, kids will be separated into smaller age groups to ensure optimal learning and build age-appropriate skills.
