Christmas Holiday Skates in Metro VancouverNow is the time of year you can skate with Santa! He is a busy guy visiting many ice arenas across Metro Vancouver. If you know of other Christmas or Santa skates, that we don’t have on our list, please let us know ( Please note that not all of these skates feature Santa, some have hot chocolate, some have the Grinch, and some have crafts and clowns. Regardless, they are special holiday skates packed with loads of holiday fun.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Skate:

Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater, bring family & friends, and enjoy an afternoon of crafts, games & holiday cheer. Santa & his friends look forward to visiting with you. Admission is $2 (and that includes skates & helmet).

Everyone is invited to Santa’s Toonie skating party at Sardis Complex.

Christmas Eve Skate:

Squeeze one last skate in before you open the presents! Come down to Sardis Complex for an afternoon of ice skating fun. There will also be games and prizes! $4 rentals.

Winter Wonderland Skates:

Skate through a twinkling wonderland. The skating arena will be magically transformed into a winter spectacle. Regular drop-in rates apply.

Dazzle the crowd with your fancy spins & fast speeds. Or join me clinging to the boards. Either way everyone will have fun skating on the day before Christmas.

Winter Wonderland in Richmond:

Skate to festive music and be dazzled by thousands of sparkling lights, real snow banks, decorated holiday trees & more. This is an all ages event. Regular admission rates apply. The times of the skating sessions vary every day. Please check the schedule before heading out.

Winter Ice Palace:

As is Christmas tradition the Cloverdale Arena will be transformed into the Winter Ice Palace over the winter school break. 2017 marks the 21st year this popular event has been attracting families from all over the Lower Mainland. If you are looking for something to do on either Dec 25th or January 1st, you are in luck as they are open both holiday days. Admission is $4.50. Don’t worry if you forget your skates and helmets, rentals are available. Skate rentals are $3.25 and helmets are $1.75. Call 604-502-6410 for more information.

Robson Square:

The Robson Square Ice Rink is located in the very heart of downtown next to the Vancouver Art Gallery and Robson Street shopping. As it is covered by a clear dome there is protection from rain but is otherwise outside, letting you feel the breeze on you face, letting you feel the energy of the city around you. Don’t worry if you don’t have skates, you can rent them on site. All rentals are cash only: ice skates $5; helmet $2; ice cleats $2.  Other than rentals this great experience is FREE! This is one of a very few venues actually open on Christmas Day.
When: opening December 1, 2019 to February 28, 2020 (Christmas Day noon – 5pm; New Year’s Eve 9am – 11pm)
