Fall is here and it’s time to celebrate with family and friends! Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at Gateway Theatre for great food, exceptional entertainment, and a fun evening of family-friendly activities.

If you’ve never experienced a Mid-Autumn Festival, you’re in for a treat! The Mid-Autumn Festival is often called the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival because it occurs when the moon is at its brightest and roundest according to the lunar calendar and it is customary to give and eat mooncakes during this time. What is a mooncake, you might ask? Mooncakes are sweet pastries that have intricate designs on the top. Mooncakes represent togetherness and unity, and are often given as gifts to friends and family. The Mid-Autumn Festival symbolizes peace, prosperity and harmony making it the perfect event to bring your whole family and community circle to.

Gateway Theatre is celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with a plethora of family activities. This year, the festival begins at Gateway Theatre and ends at Minoru Park for a very special event sure to dazzle the entire family. Your evening begins with making a beautiful lantern by hand that will accompany you on the lantern procession to Minoru Park. Once the procession ends and you have arrived at the park, participants will be treated to a concert featuring Renee Fajardo and her moonlight melodies. This is the perfect way to bid farewell to summer and usher in a new season surrounded by family, friends, and your community.

Admission to the Mid-Autumn Festival at Gateway Theatre includes all activities and supplies for the lantern, in addition to the concert. Tickets for Adults (19+) are $15, and Children/Youth ages 3-18 are $10. Children 2 and under are free and do not require a ticket, but please email Gateway Theatre to let them know a child will be attending so they can track their registration numbers.
