We all miss the Stanley Park Train, but now there’s an extra special reason to visit the space – Stanley Park Mini Golf! With no confirmed reopening date in sight, the Vancouver Parks Board has approved an idea to host a variety of events and attractions in the unused space for families and friends to gather and enjoy.
Step into a geometric wonderland at the first attraction of the season – a delightful 18-hole Mini Golf! Featuring fun, vibrant colours and designs, the mini golf course was perfect for all ages. My kids, ages 4 & 6 were able to learn mini golf and feel confident with clubs appropriately sized for them, and they loved the option to pick their own ball colour (pink and purple, of course). The difficulty level was just right, too. On some holes, they were able to get the ball in with just a couple of tries, while others were more challenging (even for the adults!)
The location can’t be beat for families – close to the parking lot, to washrooms, and just a 5-minute walk from a playground. For food and snacks, there’s The Patio by La Mezcaleria on site, serving small bites (sweet and savoury) and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. At check-in, we were told that we could bring our drinks with us throughout the course, but we opted to wait until the end (with kids, wandering with food and drink never ends well!). If you’re looking for a real party atmosphere, head to Stanley Park Mini Golf from 5 pm-9 pm Thursday – Saturday, when you’ll also be treated to the musical stylings of Mr. Pablo DJ Vinyl Nights.
Families can choose from 9-hole or 18-hole depending on time (and skill). We opted for 18-holes, which took us about an hour and a half for 3 players. We also came at a perfect time (mid-afternoon on a Thursday), when it wasn’t too busy, so we weren’t waiting behind large groups, and there were not too many groups waiting behind us.
Overall, it was a fun experience and super kid/family-friendly. Whether you’re looking to make it your final destination or a stop on a full day of adventuring in Stanley Park, it’s well worth the time. Kids under 3 are free, and prices range for ages 3-12 and 12+ depending on whether you opt for the 9- or 18-hole option.
