The community of Legacy, in Calgary’s SE, will be a bright spot in our city this holiday season, literally!

From November 15, 2021, to January 16, 2022, Legacy will light up the south end of the city with more than a million Christmas lights in a cheery display throughout the community as one of Calgary’s largest free light displays. Enjoy walking or driving through the community to see festive lights on parks and playgrounds, trees, show homes, and design features like the Legacy clock tower. This year see the lights in the shape of presents, tunnels made of lights, and a larger-than-life Christmas tree. There will also be many private homes decorated for this magical display.

Guests from across the city can also access two public skating rinks in the community, a full-sized hockey rink complete with regulation boards, and a second rink for pleasure skaters.

In early December, the Legacy Community Association will also be putting on its annual Light Up the Pond for a Cause initiative, which will also be open to the public. Giant fire pits will be located around one of Legacy’s large ponds and cutouts of holiday characters will be placed as photo opportunities for people to enjoy. Attendees can also drop off a toy for a charity at the SW corner of the pond. This will be running for three nights to make social distancing easy for visitors. Stay tuned for details.
