The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is welcoming live dinosaurs back to the Prehistoric Park! Okay, they’re animatronic dinosaurs, but that means you can see for yourself what Alberta might have looked like when dinosaurs reigned supreme and travel back to prehistoric times with life-sized dinosaur models around every turn.

Dinosaurs: Awakened at the Prehistoric Park opens on April 15, 2022. The zoo has introduced 26 new realistic animatronic dinosaurs (across 17 species) within Prehistoric Park, from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods, covering the zoo’s regions including Canada, Asia, Africa, South America, and Antarctica.

Visitors will marvel at the size of these magnificent life-like creatures that move, sound, and exhibit behaviours of these giants of the past. The exhibit, designed to educate, as well as entertain, encourages visitors to go on an immersive journey through the newly designed Prehistoric Park to experience what it may have been like to roam the Earth with the dinosaurs, while inspiring action to prevent the loss of endangered species today – a key component of the vital conservation work the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo does both locally and globally.
