Everyone is invited to the University of Alberta’s Foote Field on Saturday, June 10 for the 2023 Summer Fun & Fitness Day in support of the Moi Surgical Initiative. Registration is now open for this exciting day of fitness classes, relay races, a silent auction, photo booths, games, and more – all in support of a fantastic cause!
The Moi Surgical Initiative is a partnership between the University of Alberta and the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya to provide improved care for pediatric patients experiencing ear, nose, and throat issues. Through the partnership, a team of University of Alberta surgeons are able to offer complex procedure training camps that educate and give additional support to the ENT surgical team in Kenya.
The Summer Fun & Fitness Day will take place at Foote Field, offering up instructor-led yoga and HIIT bootcamp classes (with modifications for all levels), an obstacle relay race, games, crafts, face painting, a professional photo booth, and other family-friendly activities. Attendees can also look forward to a delicious lunch catered by the Italian Centre, and a silent auction featuring fantastic products and services from local businesses.
This year’s family-friendly Summer Fun & Fitness Day will raise money for an upcoming surgical trip to Kenya in October 2023. Funds raised during the event will help provide much-needed surgical equipment to enhance the care of specific patient populations in Kenya, as identified during the October 2022 surgical training camp.
