Does your child love science, technology, engineering, or math? Whether they’re fascinated by fossils, curious about rocks and minerals, or dreaming of building robots, APEGA (The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) offers fun, affordable STEM programs for kids in Edmonton that inspire learning through hands-on discovery.
What is APEGA?
Since 1920, APEGA has been the self-regulating body for Alberta’s engineering and geoscience professions, setting high standards for education, training, and ethics. Beyond its regulatory role, APEGA is passionate about inspiring the next generation through hands-on science and engineering experiences, youth outreach, and engaging science programming for students across Alberta.
Designed for students from kindergarten through Grade 12, APEGA’s STEM programs encourage young minds to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through exciting real-world experiences. Two of their most popular events—the Rock & Fossil Clinic and the APEGA Science Olympics—align with Alberta Education learning outcomes while making STEM fun, interactive, and memorable!
🪨 Explore Rocks, Fossils, and Geology at the APEGA Rock & Fossil Clinic
Does your child love collecting rocks or discovering fossils? The APEGA Rock & Fossil Clinic gives families the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of geoscience alongside professional geoscientists. Kids can examine rocks, fossils, and minerals up close, identify mystery specimens, and learn how geoscience shapes the world around us. It’s a fantastic STEM event for curious young scientists and future geoscientists!
🏆 Put Engineering Skills to the Test at the APEGA Science Olympics
The APEGA Science Olympics are exciting inter-school activities where students work together to solve real-world engineering and geoscience challenges. Guided by professional engineers and geoscientists, participants develop problem-solving, teamwork, creativity, and critical-thinking skills while having fun in a supportive, hands-on learning environment.
