Guest Exhibit: Eyes on the Skies

Learn what it takes to manage air traffic with the Eyes on the Skies guest exhibit at the Alberta Aviation Museum!  This special exhibition was developed by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in collaboration with NAV CANADA to give visitors the chance to explore the rapid evolution of air traffic management, systems, people, and technologies that keep skies safe. Have fun testing your skills with a variety of highly interactive experiences, while learning more about how air traffic is managed safely and efficiently.  With a mix of historical and contemporary content, this is a great introduction to Canada’s air navigation system and the critical role it plays in the aviation industry.

YEG Honeycomb Alberta Aviation Museum

YEG Honeycomb Partnership

The Alberta Aviation Museum has partnered with YEG Honeycomb to help guests discover a new form of flight – honeybees! Enlisted as their new flight ambassadors, the museum is thrilled to welcome the arrival of the two colonies.  This unique program sees two pollinator penthouses stationed and tended to at the historic Blatchford Field hangar.  Learn all about the “buzz” this initiative is creating through drop-in Bee Talks led by a professional beekeeper.  These community talks will focus on the importance of bees, how they have contributed to the rich history of the area, and how they will continue to be an integral part of a new chapter on sustainability.

Open Cockpit Day

Join the Alberta Aviation Museum as their biggest event of the year makes it’s return on September 25, 2021. During the 6th Annual Open Cockpit Day, visitors can find themselves in the seat of an authentic piece of aviation history! From 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, visitors will have the opportunity to look inside the crew doors of several historical aircrafts and get rare access to the helm of a Lockheed Starfighter.  Join in the celebrations with special family programming, guest presentations, photo booth opportunities and food trucks available throughout the day.  While there, take in the new Eyes on the Skies exhibit or learn more about the YEG Honeycomb partnership.
