One of our favourite summer activities in Edmonton is take a ride on Edmonton Streetcars across the High Level Bridge. The short journey offers up spectacular views and is a fun and unique mode of transportation only available in the summer months (May 20 through to September 5). This unique experience takes you in a fully restored streetcar from Edmonton’s historic Old Strathcona area, through the only tunnel ever built on a CPR mainline in Alberta, and up high across the High Level Bridge into Edmonton’s Downtown. If you haven’t done it yet, it is a must do for those both living in and visiting our city!

Edmonton Streetcars offers a couple stops after crossing the High Level Bridge, and our family typically gets off at the Government Centre Plaza platform to walk over to enjoy the beautifully landscaped Legislature grounds and have fun splashing in the fountains. This summer, I am thinking a free Legislative Assembly of Alberta Tour and stop for gelato at the nearby La Carraia Gelateria Cafe would be a great way to spend our time before we complete the round-trip back across the bridge.
