It’s that time of year again… we are ‘Lighting Up HRM’!
From Halifax to Hubbards, Sambro to Sackville, Dartmouth, Bedford, and all places in between, these are the best Christmas lights in HRM! Hundreds of staples, thousands of tie wraps and millions of ooh’s and aah’s later, we are ‘Lighting up Halifax, Dartmouth and Beyond’!
We will be adding to our list as the lights continue to shine so be sure to check back to find all the best spots. NOTE: The light displays marked with an asterisk (*) are from our 2020 listing and we have not gotten a chance to visit these locations to confirm the lights for 2021. Please use this list at your discretion.
The only way to truly enjoy the holiday sights and sounds of downtown Halifax is on foot and Parade Square is the place you want to hit up for a holiday spectacle! Halifax City Hall has an amazing projection display that runs about every 15 minutes.
The Halifax Waterfront is home to the ‘Evergreen Festival‘, Halifax’s newest holiday festival. Check out the amazing lights, music and market for a festive night on the waterfront. While you are there, be sure to catch a ride on the Ferris Wheel for the best view in town!
Connaught Avenue/Norwood Street/Rosebank Avenue/Jubilee Road – The festive lights that have spanned this neighbourhood block for years… is back! In addition to the two hugely festive homes, there are many other beautiful lights displays scattered in this area, especially Rosebank Avenue. This is what the holiday spirit is all about!
7031 Fielding Avenue* – Check out this unique display of ‘Misfit Gingerbread Land’!
Mt Royale Park Area – Bently Drive, Sophia Street and Salzburg Place* – Tucked away behind Mt. Royale Park, just off of Washmill Lake Drive, you will find a little subdivision with a LOT of holiday spirit! Check out over 50 Santas on people’s front lawns and some spectacular lighted homes. The kids will love to see the spectacle and count the Santas along the way!
Rockingham/Clayton Park Area
146 Abrams Way* – Check out this house and many more in this festive neighbourhood!
Downtown Dartmouth Holiday Lights Tour – Downtown Dartmouth is getting Merry and Bright with beautiful holiday lights, murals, and window displays at 8 different downtown locations including Sullivan’s Pond and the Alderney Landing! Check here for the map of lights.
Everything is merry and bright on Appian Way with its 30,000 lights and Christmas inflatables. Tune in to 89.1 FM to watch the lights dance to the music. This amazing light display runs nightly from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and don’t forget to drop off your letters to Santa inside the igloo! This year’s display is dedicated to a very special little girl named Alie whose light shines ever so bright!
1740 Shore Road – The 9th annual memorial lobster trap tree is a highlight on our list!
Bedford/Sackville/Hammonds Plains Area
Old Sackville Road* – lots of Christmas spirit along this road and be sure not to miss #222, #265 and #275!
Timber Trails Mini Home Park* – 11 Streets of Holiday Lights!
Fall River, Waverley, Beaverbank, Enfield
The Anderson’s Christmas Lights Display (yes, they even have their own Facebook page!) is the newest on the block and they are quickly becoming ‘Hali-Famous’ out in Fall River. Their 3500 lights are choreographed to 4 different songs and are sure to get you in the holiday spirit. Tune in to 87.9FM to enjoy the show! This amazing light display runs nightly from 5:30 pm – 11:00 pm and non-perishable food item donations for the Lions Christmas Express are greatly appreciated (donation box on-site).
6315 Hwy 2, Enfield* – If you are heading out to the airport, take a quick detour and check out this fun lights display. The biggest Santa and Mrs Claus we have seen so far this year – standing tall at 16 feet!
… and Beyond!
33 Grover Drive, Williamswood – Head out past Spryfield to check out these amazing lights! You can enjoy this display from 5 pm to 11 pm daily until December 31st. Donations for the SPCA are greatly appreciated (donation box on-site).
Mineville – Lights Up Mineville! The Mineville Christmas Decorating Contest is back! We imagine there will be lots of great light displays throughout the community. Check out their Facebook Page for the latest details!
170 and 172 East Side Road, Ketch Harbour – there is an amazing amount of festive fun going on in Ketch Harbour! Check out this holiday light show from 4:30 pm – 11:00 pm every night.
