The Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts provides arts education to people of all ages who wish to further explore their love for dance and music. Their winter and spring 2026 registration is now open, and these programs are in high demand, so we suggest you act fast!

Under the guidance of world class, highly-skilled faculty members, in an environment tailored to match each student’s unique goals, your children will develop life-long skills, expand their imagination and find their unique voice. Both music and dance lessons are offered at their centrally located facility, providing a broad range of classes for your creative child. The Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts has been a part of the Halifax arts community for over 130 years, setting the standard for quality arts education in music and dance. They want to help your kids build a life and career they are passionate about through private lessons, group classes, Kindermusik, music therapy, and so much more!

School of Music

With programs offered year-round, private music lessons are at the heart and core of their services. Students of all ages and abilities can receive instruction in a wide variety of musical fields, instrumental disciplines, and stylistic genres.

Your little one will have many performance opportunities throughout the year either as soloists or ensemble members in class or school-wide recitals.

For the Littles:
Play, sing, move and make friends at Kindermusik. This is an experience for parents & guardians to share with their children, creating and absorbing music in a fun and nurturing environment. Classes are organized into five stages, beginning with the earliest of infants through to young children of 5-7 years old.

School of Dance

With a broad curriculum and classes in a variety of dance styles including folk, breakdance, modern, jazz, tap, composition, and ballroom, these programs offer opportunities for a variety of students, from those just beginning their dance training to aspiring professionals.

A full-time Profession Ballet Program is also offered for dancers aged 12-17 years looking to explore a professional career in dance.

For the Littles:
The Early Childhood Movement (ECMP) and Junior Movement (JUMP) programs are specifically designed for children between the ages of 3-5 years old. They will give your child physical and emotional confidence that can be carried with them as they grow. There is also a Parent and Tot Class for toddlers 24-36 months.

Music Therapy

Through the Centre for Music Therapy, the Maritime Conservatory also offers adaptive music lessons and music therapy sessions, where individuals of all ages and abilities can participate in music therapy. These lessons are tailored to each participant’s interests, strengths, and needs.
