Who is ready for some world-class hockey? The 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship is taking place from December 26, 2022, to January 5, 2023, in Halifax’s very own Scotiabank Centre.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. In addition to the multiple games taking place each day of the championship series, there are also exhibition games before the puck drops on the 26th. If you have your family in tow, you will be pleased to know that there is more than just incredible hockey to catch. Before, during or after the games at the Halifax Convention Centre you can visit the #ExploreNB Fan Fest for all kinds of family-friendly fun. Festivities include live entertainment, viewing parties, bouncy castles, face painters, mascots, merchandise and so much more.

As an Atlantic Canadian and wife of a former college hockey player, this game is more than just a national pass time. In our household, it is a way of life. Admittedly, my admiration for the game does not come naturally but is something that continues to grow over time. Now that I have a toddler that wants to play hockey “like daddy”, I cannot help but share in his delight. Despite not being the biggest hockey lover in the household, I know enough about the institution to know that The World Juniors are a pretty big deal. And to that matter, hosting The World Juniors in Halifax is a HUGE deal. This is why I was thrilled to attend one of the games. Check out this short Reel of my World Juniors experience.

Nothing quite matches the energy and excited of a packed arena. Check out ticket prices and the full schedule here. I hope you are able to catch a game, at the very least tune in on TSN for the gold metal game January 5th @7:30 pm, or head to Rogers Square and watch team Canada play for gold.
