February is Aboriginal Storytelling Month! Find Out What’s Happening at the Library


Aboriginal Storytelling monthThe Saskatoon Public Library is excited to host a number of events honouring Aboriginal Storytelling Month in Canada. Celebrate Canada’s rich history and the tradition of storytelling and knowledge sharing at any of the following family-friendly events:

Rabbit and Bear Paws (Ages 5 & up, Kids under 6 with an adult)

Chad Solomon presents a fun interactive puppet show sharing Indigenous wisdom at the following times and locations:

Frances Morrison Branch

When: February 14, 2019
Time: 1:30am – 2:30am

Cliff Wright Branch

When: February 15, 2019
Time: 1:30 – 2:30pm

Station 20 West / 1120 2oth St West

When: February 13, 2019
Time: 1:30 – 2:30pm

Red River Jig Dance Party

Come learn a Red River Jig from Dallas and Phil Boyer! This is a traditional Metis dance and tons of fun for the whole family.

When: February 16, 2019
Time: 10:30am – 11:15am & 11:30am – 12:15pm

Drumming and Stories with Carol Rose Daniels

Carol embarks on a family-friendly journey of drumming and storytelling.

Frances Morrison Central Library

When: February 8, 2019 from 4 – 5pm

Round Prairie Branch

When: February 9, 2019 from 10:30 – 11:30am

Storytelling with Joseph Naytowhow

Joseph, a gifted Plains/Woodland Cree singer and songwriter shares his unique style.

Dr Freda Ahenakew Branch

When: February 16 from 11am – noon

Frances Morrison Central Library

When: February 15 from 3:30 – 4:30pm

Storytelling with Dickie Yuzicapi

Dickie recalls childhood stories and shares songs in honour of his Indigenous heritage.
