We were lucky enough to get some photos taken at Meewasin Park at the end of June. I was so happy when it was suggested as our location because it’s one of our favourite spots to visit. It’s got everything. You can find trails, a beach, a playground, and spots to picnic with BBQ pits. They also have public washrooms. I love it because of the trails and the gorgeous scenery, and my son loves it because it’s got so many things for him to do.

The Beach

The beach area is all we need. It’s got sand and the river. We don’t go swimming in the river, but when the water isn’t too high, we will stick our feet in to cool off. My son loves to explore and search for sea creatures. (I’m usually hoping he doesn’t find sea creatures.) If we bring sand toys, he can sit and play, and I can play with him or bring a book with me.

In fact, sometimes we bring books for me to read to him, and enjoy our time together with nature surrounding us. We’re so lucky to have this beautiful place to enjoy. The change of scenery to relax and read makes it even better.

The Trails

There are trails that lead down to the beach, trails along Spadina, bike trails, and paths leading in any direction. We love exploring with no actual destination in mind. I know I can let him choose any direction, and we’ll be able to find our way back.

The Playground

The playground is one of my favourites for my little monkey. It’s got a slide, sand, and lots of places for him to climb. He could spend all day running around the playground. They also have nice spots for the adults to sit while watching the little ones play. As an added bonus, the washrooms are really close! The picnic tables are also close so if you’re meeting with family, the kids can go play.

If you have a mini adventurer, this is the perfect place to take them. They get a mix of everything. If you’re meeting people for a gathering, there will be plenty of room. The parking lot is spacious and close to the picnic area. This is one of our go-to places when we need to get out of the house. It’s never disappointed us, and the drive there along Spadina Crescent is stunning. Meewasin Park is a great choice for every season – we also love going there to search for puddles to jump in.
