Get closer than ever: Unleash your inner animal lover. The Saskatoon Zoo Society’s ZooVentures: Creature Close-ups will take you behind-the-scenes at the Zoo every Saturday and Sunday in July and August. If you or your kids have dreamed of getting up close and personal with some of the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo’s amazing residents, this is your chance. You can meet the bears, pigs, caribou, meerkats and porcupines. Families will have an unforgettable experience with ZooVentures, bringing you face-to-face with some fascinating animals.
ZooVentures: Creature Close-ups: Choose Your Own Adventure
You can choose your own adventure and pick the experience you want. (Or do them all throughout the summer!) ZooVentures: Creature Close-ups will be a great opportunity to meet up with your favourite animals, and the biggest problem will be picking which one to try first.
Caribou-t the Wild
Connect with the majestic caribou and forge a unique bond! You will be able to interact with the caribou and feed them their favourite snacks. This program also allows you to become part of the herd and join a real-life reindeer game.
Time: 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Meer-Quill Experience
Get the meerkats and porcupine gossip you won’t get anywhere else! Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, will be to design and build toys for the meerkats and porcupines. Your reward will be witnessing their hilarious playtime.
Time: 11:15am-12:15pm
Kunekune: For Pig’s Sake
Prepare for giggles and grunts as you connect with these teddy bear-like pigs! Note: children have to be age 6&up for this program.
Time: 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Un-bear-lievable Bears
Exclusive access to behind the Brown bear’s lair! Your mission will be to decipher the bear clues and match the artifacts to their owners. Your reward will be behind-the-scenes access to the brown bear’s secret lair.
Time: 3 PM – 4 PM
Packed with Excitement:
You get to enjoy an encounter with your chosen creature but you also get to meet an ambassador animal. This could be a snake, ferret, tortoise, or lizard. The programs will also include fun learning and interactive experiences. This is the time for a unique opportunity to connect with the wild.
Cost:
$15 per person (ages 2 & up) and children age 1 and under are free. Zoo Admission is not included, but must be paid before the tour.
Pre-booking is advised, but walk-ups will be taken if space is available.
