Surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and calm waters, campers will spend their days exploring, learning new skills on the water, and having a blast. Whether your child has spent oodles of time out on the water perfecting their strokes, or are still developing their confidence, the experienced and certified instructors will ensure that every camper feels safe, supported and has a great time. What could be better than spending a day outside getting fresh air, exploring the beautiful coast and waters off Bowen Island, and making new friends along the way.
Bowen Island Sea Kayaking camps are available for kids ages 8-12 years old. During the full-day, weeklong camps, campers will explore the rugged shoreline of Bowen Island as they maneuver through an obstacle course, paddle in a “chariot race” or play games designed to increase confidence, skill and team-building. Both on and off the water, the certified instructors offer a ratio of 5:1 for optimal safety and personal attention. Each instructor will guide campers through adventure as they learn about the nature and marine life that make Bowen Island such a popular spot for tourists and locals to visit. As an established and trusted company, Bowen Island Sea Kayaking welcomes campers from all over the lower mainland each year to participate in their popular summer camps. Campers receive chaperoned transportation between Horseshoe Bay and Snug Cove every morning and afternoon to ensure safe travel, so even if you’re not able to get the time off work to stay on Bowen Island for a week, your child can still participate in this exceptional opportunity.
If this sounds like fun but not quite enough of a challenge for experienced paddlers, Bowen Island Sea Kayaking offers a special, 4-day summer camp for youth ages 13+. Geared towards those who have experience on the water, this camp will teach youth the necessary skills to be awarded the Paddle Canada BASIC Kayak Skills Certification. Each day, certified instructors will lead campers along the rugged coastline to teach and complete the skills necessary for certification. This experiential certification will blend skill mastery with fun and new friends as they learn navigation, injury prevention, bracing and edging, and more. This camp runs only from August 6-9, 9:45am-3:45pm.
Bowen Island Sea Kayak Summer Camps for kids run Monday-Friday, 9:30am-3:30pm, with optional drop-off at Horseshoe Bay at 8:30am and pickup at 4:20pm. Each camp runs for 5 days and with 6 weeks to choose from, there are plenty of options and flexibility. Whether you add Bowen Island Sea Kayaking Summer Camps into your own vacation schedule or have to stay behind and work, your child is guaranteed to have an experience they will never forget out on the water.
