Situated atop wooden pilings over the mighty Fraser River, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery is one of the few remaining 19th century salmon canneries in BC. In its heyday, the Cannery was the largest building of its kind and the leading producer of canned salmon in BC. Now a dynamic fishing museum, step inside and become immersed in the sights, sounds and stories of the West Coast fishing industry. Guided tours and interactive exhibits will help you explore Canada’s West Coast fishing industry. Leave some time to browse the wide selection of merchandise in our Gift Shop.

Families: There are lots of fun things for kids to do at the Cannery! What’s even better is that regular admission for kids 17 years and under are free (must be accompanied by an adult). Explore the massive historic building and the many hands-on, interactive exhibits. Use a ‘peugh’ to sort salmon at the fish bins, try boat-spotting from the our dock on the Steveston Harbour, or be the captain of your own fishing boat in the Model Wheelhouse.
