Spend your summer immersed in nature at Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre summer camps!
Ecology Centre naturalists have plenty of fun activities organized for campers who are looking to connect with nature and learn about the plants and animals of the temperate rainforest. The mini-camp format, running for 3 half-days from Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday, ensures children can experience a variety of themes and topics whilst still leaving plenty of time to play and have fun with their friends!
Campers will have a hands-on exploration of Lynn Canyon as they help restore the habitat by pulling invasive species in Lynn Canyon Park, all while learning about plants and animals that are native to the area. Each mini-camp has a different theme to engage campers and focus their learning. Summer Camps at Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre are for children ages 5-8 years old or 8-12 years old and run each day from 9:30am-12:30pm. Spectacular Senses | July 8-10 & July 29-31: Engage all five senses as you traipse through the forest listening to bird songs, drawing animals, exploring the forest floor, and learning how to appreciate the surroundings. Campers will play games, complete activities, and hike as they develop their sensory skills.
Brother Bear & Sister Wolf | July 10- 12: Lynn Canyon Park is busy with creatures big and small who inhabit this area. Learn about the special nature of bears and wolves, and how to protect them in our ever-changing world.
Take a Hike | July 15- 17 & 17-19: If your child loves to hike (or even go on long walks), then they will love this camp! Adventure through the park on foot and learn about plants and animals through a series of games and activities along the way.
River Rangers | July 22-24: The river in Lynn Canyon Park is just as full of wildlife as the forest! Campers will learn about the fish that call the park home, and ways to help support the waterways.
Nature Creations | August 21-23: Combine a love of nature and art together in this hands-on camp that will explore the ways that the two intersect. Campers will create pieces of art using the elements they find within the park.
