Choo choo! All aboard for The Railway Museum of BC! If you haven’t been to The Railway Museum of BC in a while, make this a top priority on your Spring Break to-do list. Learn about locomotive history and heritage by seeing, touching and interacting with a variety of trains and locomotive equipment.
The Railway Museum of BC is hosting a Sea to Sky Model Train and Hobby show this March and you won’t want to miss it. Train enthusiasts of all ages will love exploring the museum and seeing the crown jewel of the collection: The Royal Hudson 2860 Steam Locomotive, which was finished in 1940 and in use until 2010 when it was restored for the Olympics. Visitors can hop into the Royal Hudson, ring the bell and blow the whistle as they imagine traveling on this exquisite locomotive.
In addition to exploring the museum, visitors to the Sea to Sky Model Train and Hobby Show can take a ride on the Mini-Rail ($3), ride the Budd Rail Diesel Car to the Repair Shop($3), both weather permitting, and participate in RC Car Racing! Children (and adults alike) will love playing with wooden and battery-operated Thomas the Train tables and learning to operate the model trains with sound and animation. Train enthusiasts of all ages will love viewing detailed operating model railways from visiting model train clubs, and detailed LEGO displays.
A trip to the Sea to Sky Model Train and Hobby Show wouldn’t be complete with bringing home some special items! Exhibitors and vendors will be on hand to answer questions and sell goods and products for train enthusiasts to take home. New and used model trains, diecast models, RC cars and trucks, and other toys will be available for purchase. Food, drink and snack vendors will also be onsite to ensure you are well-fed and can spend as long as you need exploring and learning.
