When it comes to education-infused, hands-on experiences, you just can’t beat Pear Tree Summer Camps! The quality and diversity of their courses mean their summer camps are in high demand. With incredibly fun, engaging, and educational themes for their summer camps, kids ages 5 – 12 will come home buzzing with excitement to tell you about all of the cool things they learned at camp!
Since 2012, Pear Tree has raised the bar for quality camps for kids due to the exceptional programming, focus on experiential and hands-on learning, and diversity of the courses offered. Pear Tree Summer Camps stand out from others because they are all led by BC-certified teachers who are highly engaged and passionate about teaching. Camp days are structured with time for guided experiences that include building, creating, and investigating, time for outdoor play, and, of course, structured meal times. Pear Tree also employs a Red Seal-certified chef, and Yaletown and Kitsilano campers have the option to add on a hot lunch each day, which also includes two snacks, for a small cost. As one of Vancouver’s most popular summer camp options for families, parents can rest assured their children will end each week begging to return!
During the week-long camps, your child will spend plenty of time outside experiencing education hands-on in the open air. All of the summer camps are taught by fully qualified, experienced school teachers passionate about Pear Tree’s system of learning that prioritizes hands-on, interactive educational activities. Each camp is capped at 16 students, ensuring a personalized experience and a 1:5 teacher-to-student ratio for fieldtrips and outings.
This year, families can choose from 6 convenient locations for themed summer camps. What does a typical day of camp look like at Pear Tree? It starts with connection and teachers personally greeting each student as they arrive to get settled into the daily activities and tasks. Three main activities tied in to the theme of the week will run daily; this could look like cooking up a delicious meal, completing a unique STEM challenge, exploring local shorelines to learn about marine biology, or learning how to design and create their very own business. The activities are experiential, meaning campers learn by doing, not by listening or filling out worksheets. Through hands-on experimentation, campers feel empowered and develop confidence in their abilities. Throughout the day, campers spend quality time outdoors exploring the area as part of an activity, building and creating new inventions, and of course, having fun and unstructured play following lunch to build closer relationships with their peers.
The themes for the 2026 Pear Tree Summer Camps feature popular camp themes from past years, with plenty of NEW and exciting themes that children of all ages will be excited about, including Marine Biology, Animation, STEM Challenges, Cooking Science (one of my personal favourites!), Entrepreneurship, Drama, and plenty more! There is truly a camp for everyone at Pear Tree. Camps are grouped by age (5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12), ensuring challenges and learning opportunities that are age-appropriate at every level.
In addition to quality theme-based programs, Pear Tree offers unique French-language camps where students will engage with the same exceptional programming in French, and ESL camps for students looking to boost their language skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. It’s another way that Pear Tree Summer Camps thinks of every camper and connects with what families need most. Plus – each child registered gets a free Pear Tree Summer Camp t-shirt!
