After 2 years, the Vancouver International Children’s Festival
is back this spring to delight, enchant and engage children of all ages. Families from around Metro Vancouver look forward to the festival every year; I have fond memories of attending it when I was a child (I actually saw Cirque du Soleil at Kids Fest!). This year, fourteen professional performing artists from as far-reaching as Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom are scheduled to perform 65 shows.
The 2022 Festival will offer a mix of in-person (May 31 – June 5) and online performances (May 31 – June 12) of circus, puppetry, theatre, dance, music and lots of arts activities created just for children. Highlights include dancing and singing with Ginalina in English, French and Mandarin, crowd favourite Fred Penner with The Cat Came Back, One of a Kind; a series of stories performed by a talented, diverse group of extraordinary emerging storytellers, A Story of a House That Turned into a Dot, the acrobatics of Won’Ma Africa!, a Variety Show, and more!
