This summer, it’s time to unplug and get your hands a little dirty at UBC Farm Summer Camps! Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of busy Vancouver, the UBC Farm offers a little taste of sustainable living in a busy city environment. With a blend of outdoor exploration, hands-on learning, and connection to nature, UBC Farm Summer Camps provide children with an opportunity to ‘dig’ into where their food comes from through play, discovery, and meaningful engagement. It’s the ideal setting for kids ages 6 – 12 to make unforgettable memories.

Sustainability is more important than ever, and at UBC Farm Summer Camps, kids will learn the food cycles of planting, growing, harvesting, and eating to understand their role in local food systems. Through nature exploration and exposure to gardening, campers will develop stronger connections to nature and community as they engage in farm-based education, practice environmental stewardship, and learn crucial social-emotional development.

UBC Farm Summer Camps run weekly from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday throughout the summer, offering flexibility for families to register for many weeks in a row, or just one. Campers are divided into two groups based on age: Farm Wonders (ages 6 – 9) and Forest Wonders (ages 10 – 12).

Farm Wonders (6 – 9 years old)

Spend your days in the garden amongst nature! Enjoy garden games, nature crafts, storytelling, and exploration of the UBC Farm to see all the big (and small) wonders that exist. In Farm Wonders, campers will learn the rhythms of farm life and spend their time in the beautiful Children’s Learning Garden and across the working farm.

Forest Wonders (10 – 12 years old)

The preteen years are a pivotal time in a youth’s life where they want to wander and explore more, but are still developing deep connections and a sense of themselves. At UBC Farm Summer Camps, ages 10 – 12 will explore more of the 24-hectare UBC Farm that includes second-growth forests and farmland. Under the guidance of incredible instructors, they will develop self-confidence, creative and critical thinking skills, and a greater sense of self as they connect with nature.  Through hands-on science investigations, nature journaling, team challenges, and ecological exploration, campers will uncover seasonal cycles, sustainable food systems, and forest ecosystems.

The UBC Farm is a beautiful, peaceful location and the perfect place for kids to learn about the world around them by literally ‘digging in’. Whether they are interested in gardening, forest exploration, or food systems, campers will learn about their role in the local community and build meaningful connections with those around them.
