Well hello June! The family-fun activities ramp up during the warmer months. We’ve picked a mere sampling of the great events eager to entertain people with kids-in-tow. If you need more ideas, head on over to the Family Fun Vancouver calendar!
Vancouver Children’s Festival (May 29 – June 2) – the fun may have started in May but we couldn’t leave this Vancouver-staple off our June events list. I still have incredibly fond memories of attending Kids’ Fest when it was at Vanier Park. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking my kids to the festival’s new home at Granville Island.
Pitt Meadows Day (June 1) – It’s the 78th annual Pitt Meadows Day! Come out celebrate this popular free annual community tradition in Harris Road Park on Harris Road in Pitt Meadows. And while you are in town, you can also enjoy Pitt Meadows Airport Day.
Doors Open Richmond (June 1 & 2) – Discover Doors Open Richmond 2019…it is the 12th year of this fascinating event. Get behind the scenes access to more than 40 sites around Richmond for FREE! This event includes sites such as museums, national historic sites, art galleries, places of worship, art studios, local businesses, and private venues.
Hats Off Day (June 1) – the merchants in Burnaby Heights are taking their Hats Off for their community & customers. Celebrate with a Family Fun Dash, a parade & street festival.
Bard on the Beach (June 5- September 21) – once again the Bard on the Beach returns to Vanier Park. This year the Family Days happen on July 6, August 10 & 24. The performances for 2019 are: The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare in Love, All’s Well That Ends Well, and Coriolanus.
Doors Open Surrey (June 8) – The City of Surrey is throwing open their doors and inviting the public to come and explore. The 8th Annual Doors Open Surrey provides FREE family fun at a large variety of venues.
Italian Day on the Drive (June 9) – the Drive will be shut to cars & the fun begins at noon. The 10th annual Italian Day on the Drive is full of music, vendors, street performers, kids zones & more.
Royal Canadian Circus (runs until June 9) – the dazzling, thrilling Royal Canadian Circus is returning to the Lower Mainland and their SPECTAC! 2019 performance is not to be missed! SPECTAC! 2019 will mesmerize, astound, thrill, and captivate audiences members of all ages. The Magnificent Big Top show includes the Flying Cortes Trapeze family, the death-defying Wheel of Destiny, Xtreme Chinese acrobat troupes, chair balancing, contortion, diablo, and fearless Motorcycle Globe and much more!
Father’s Day (June 16th) – Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads, step-dads, grand-dads, dads-in-training, dads-flying-by-the-seat-of-their-pants, and everyone else who is helping nurture the next generation. Are you in need of a Father’s Day activity? Check out our list here.
Scandinavian Midsummer Festival (June 22 – 23) – Enjoy hilarious events like the wife-carry, musical entertainment, traditional performances, and the kids will love the troll forest and dancing around the May Pole.
Greek Day (June 23rd) – Broadway is shut down and tens of thousands of people converge to enjoy delicious Greek food, live entertainment, and a fantastic celebratory energy. Don’t eat before you come…the food is too good to miss!
Golden Spike Days Festival (June 28 – July 1) – Port Moody starts the Canada Day celebrations early with their 4-day Golden Spike Days Festival. The FREE fun includes live musical performances (on every day of the festival) plus oddles of kid-friendly activities. Admission to the festival is by donation. The headlining performers this year are: Big Sugar and PRISM.
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performs, for FREE, at Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park on June 30th.
