The next time your kids are off school for a PD day, send them to an awesome Play Date with Alberta Theatre Projects PD Day Camps! These day camps will be live and in-person at Arts Commons and will take place during CBE or CSSD-scheduled non-instructional Professional Development (PD) day. Kids will enjoy a combination of both active instructional time and independent activities to entertain them and keep them safe all day.

Kids will build their skills, have fun, and maybe discover a passion they haven’t fully explored with these day camps, and no prior experience is necessary. Each day camp will focus on a different theatre performance and creation theme and will help kids hone their creative skills through fun, imaginative, and engaging activities. Talented professionals will guide your children through the various areas required to create a play, including performance fundamentals like voice, movement, character, and improvisation. Students who attend will come away with key performance and theatre creation skills. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore creativity, gain confidence, and make new friends who share the same interests.

“My son was eager to do the tasks and participate. I actually saw a side of him that I hadn’t before. He was confident and happy in this camp whereas I’ve seen his struggle with self-confidence in the past in other situations.” – Parent of a Happy Camper

The Alberta Theatre Projects Play Dates are designed for kids ages 8 – 12 years. All camps take place from 9 am to 3:30 pm in the ATP Rehearsal Hall on the third floor of Arts Commons and parents will have a half-hour window for drop off and pick up. Be sure to pack your child a lunch for the half-hour lunch break, but snacks will be provided for breaks in the morning and afternoon. All of the instructors are fully vaccinated and will be masked at all times. Masking for students is not required but strongly recommended. Camp dates are January 30, April 10, and May 29, 2023, and the deadline to register is the week before each camp. The maximum capacity for each camp is 14 students.

For the next PD day, plan an ATP Day Camp for your kids to play, have fun, and learn! Fill out the registration form here or get more information from the Youth Engagement & Artist Liaison, Vicki Trask at vtrask@atplive.com or 587-441-9637.

“Excellent way to enhance creativity in a safe environment. The presenter was extremely engaging and supportive throughout. Extremely spontaneous and organic flow to the whole camp that left my kiddo very excited and engaged throughout.” – Parent of a Happy Camper
