Buying gifts for others, baking cookies for neighbours, and singing songs about peace and goodwill: Christmas is a natural time to celebrate the power and joy of community!

For many people, Calgary Public Library is the centre of their community, with free resources to enhance life, a place to work, study, and play, and new friends made in programs and classes. So, this holiday season, Calgary Public Library is launching a new campaign, focusing on the positive differences we can all make when we join together.

Wish Together, Grow Together officially kicks off on December 1, 2025, in partnership with the Calgary Public Library Foundation. This campaign highlights a season of celebration and community. It combines enchanting winter programming, community wish lists for all ages, and highly anticipated Books of the Year.

If you have a tradition of giving during the holidays, consider donating to the Calgary Library Foundation and help make wishes come true. From new board books for babies to robotics kits for teens, the Wish List provides meaningful gift options to support the Library community. And your gift will go even further during the holidays, as donations will be doubled until December 31, 2025! Visit the wish list here.

Holiday Fun

The holidays are also the perfect time to enjoy seasonal fun with family and friends. And the free events at the Library fit everyone’s budget! Throughout December, the Library’s winter programming includes movie nights with hot chocolate, a gift wrap pop-up, Rozsa Arts music performances, and more.

For example, on December 6, 2025, you can celebrate the season of making wishes with the Mayor’s Holiday Storytime at the Central Library. Mayor Jeromy Farkas will read books, share songs and rhymes, and answer questions from the audience.

Plus, you’ll find lots more holiday fun throughout December. The full schedule can be found here. It’s time to celebrate community with wishes and wonder at Calgary Public Library.

Happy holidays!
