This Canada Day, Heritage Park is celebrating its 60th birthday, with special events and all the Canada Day fun you love from one of Calgary’s top attractions! It’s an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of the many people who live in this vast land and our strength when working together. With different cultures, languages, and traditions, celebrate the past and look to the future with Canada Day at Heritage Park Historical Village!

Heritage Park is honouring six decades of memories and milestones and you won’t want to miss it! The first 1,000 guests will receive a mini butter tart. Your family will enjoy a parade, family activities, and of course, birthday cake. And don’t miss the concert from Mariya Stokes, Country Music Alberta’s (CMAB) two-time Female Artist of the Year! This is your chance to be part of history: celebrate Canada, Western Canadian heritage, and 60 wonderful years of Heritage Park.

Canada Day Highlights

Heritage Park is offering a jam-packed day of activities, events, entertainment, and family fun. Here are some highlights you can plan on, but you’ll find lots more when you visit!

Heritage Park’s 60th Anniversary Parade | Village Square
Nothing says celebrate like a parade! Heritage Park’s 60th anniversary parade will be around the Village Square at 11 am.

60th Birthday Spike Drive Ceremony | Midnapore Station
Join the 60th Birthday Spike Drive Ceremony as they drive a commemorative rail spike into the railway track at 11:30 am.

Complimentary Birthday Cake | Midnapore Station
Don’t forget the cake! Sing happy birthday to Heritage Park at 12 pm and the first 600 people there will get a free piece of birthday cake.

Mariya Stokes Concert | Didsbury Bandstand
Mariya Stokes is set to release her debut album in 2025. This “country-soul love child ” is known for her retro style, quirky humour, and refreshing, genre-bending approach to country music. Catch her concert at 1 pm or 2:25 pm.

Celebrate your love of Canada with these fun crafts from 12 – 5 pm!

Old-Fashioned Family Games | In Celebration Field near Eugene Coste Park
How fast are you? Challenge your kids to an egg-in-spoon race, a three-legged race, and other traditional games from 12 am – 5 pm.

Heritage Park Historical Village is a living history museum celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024. As one of Calgary’s top attractions, they are open daily during the summer, from Victoria Day Weekend until Labour Day Weekend. It is the Park’s mission to preserve the history of the early West and to educate and entertain guests of all ages, so there’s always something to discover at Heritage Park, whether you want to pack your day or just relax.
