Kids are drawn to cars since they are small and often dream about the day they can get behind the wheel and zoom around in a proper race car. But adults know that driving comes with a lot of responsibility too. This is why ToyotaCanada has helped to create kartSTART, a wonderful and entertaining half-day drivers education program that helps young and old alike learn about how a motor vehicle responds on the road. Even better, the lead instructor and co-creator of the program, Russ Bond, is a semi-retired race car driver. He has been involved in motorsports and go-karts for over 40 years, and he shares his expertise with all the participants and their families.
This fantastic program is coming to Red Deer, Alberta this summer at the Westerner Park on July 8 to 10. Read on to find out how you can get a fantastic discount code from Family Fun Canada when you sign up!
Kids ages 10 and older are invited to participate. Each session begins with an overview of the go-karts, then a safety lesson, and then go-kart fitting. Then it is onto the track for three lead-follow sessions with the instructor. An hour & a half is allocated for the on-track experience and this will give your junior Indy-driver a chance to get behind the wheel for a proper taste of the action! All participants are guided according to the level of their personal ability, and safety and competence are kept in mind at all times.
But this event is not only for children; Moms and Dads who are licensed drivers can go for a challenging test drive in Toyota vehicles. The track is wetted down and the instructors explain the details of Toyota’s Safety Sense program. Then they are invited to drive the vehicles on the wet track and experience it for themselves. It is quite the ride! Another bonus: lunch is included for all participants! So register now for a day out that no one will forget!
How Do I Sign Up?
Participants must be age 10 or older, between 60 and 220 lbs and physically able to control the go-kart. Adults are welcome to participate in the go-kart portion, but pre-registration is required and spots are limited. It’s easy to book; simply register through the website.
