The Leighton Art Centre Historic Home, Museum, Art Gallery, and Education Centre (featuring a historic one-room schoolhouse studio) is set on 80 acres of breathtaking rural scenery just 15 minutes from south Calgary. Since the 1970s, the Centre has existed to connect individuals from all walks of life with art, history, and landscape. As a vibrant and open space for creativity, the Centre provides its visitors – including over 8,000 students each year – with the inspiration to explore, appreciate, and create, thus enriching their own lives and their connections with others. And if you haven’t been, the drive from Calgary, along scenic (paved) country roads with spectacular Foothills and Rocky Mountain views, is itself worth the visit!

Bring the whole family (except Fido) on June 10 – 11, 2023, and support local artists as they set up outdoors with original artwork for sale at the Clothesline Art Market. Make a day of it, and explore the 80-acre property, choose your favourite view, get a tour of the historic home and property, make some art en plein air, grab a coffee or ice cream from an onsite vendor, and enjoy one of the best picnic spots in Alberta!

The Clothesline Art Market raises valuable funds for local artists and for Leighton Art Centre’s educational programs. Admission is by donation. No smoking, alcohol, or dogs are allowed on the property.
