Kids love spring break: it’s a whole week off school! No teachers, no textbooks, and no early morning alarm clocks! But parents know you sometimes end up with listless, bored kids who start clamouring for screen time and are not quite sure what to do with themselves. Thankfully, YMCA Calgary is ready to turn spring break into a fun, active, and memorable week for your kids, with different locations throughout Calgary. No screens required!

Whether you’re looking for a camp from March 23 – 27, 2020, or need a camp from April 13 – 17, 2020, check out a YMCA near you. The YMCA Calgary has plenty of spaces and places to keep kids busy and they have long been known for its quality experiences for children and youth.

Camp YMCA

The YMCA Calgary offers multi-activity school break daily camps during spring break. A Multi-activity Camp includes so many things kids ages 6 – 13 love with flexibility parents love. (You can send your kids for one day or all five days!) Participants will play sports, sing songs, get artsy, and participate in a variety of activities, including gym time and outdoor adventures. They’ll even take on the pool! If your child wants to do more than swim recreationally, sign up for a school break swim skills camp, where kids will attend a YMCA swim lesson in the morning and enjoy arts and crafts, games, gym time, outdoor adventures, and recreational swimming in the afternoon! If you need a longer day, pre-care starting at 7:30 am and post-care ending at 5:30 pm is available free of charge and does not require additional registration.

YMCA Calgary camps are more than just a fun place for kids to hang out. These camps promote friendship and active play, intentionally building the physical literacy skills that will help your child enjoy a fuller, more active and satisfying life. Through values of respect, honesty, and responsibility, kids learn social skills and how to take care of each other and our world.

Parents can be assured that the YMCA takes camper safety very seriously. Each counsellor has training in healthy child development, first aid and CPR certifications, and a valid police clearance. In addition, they have completed training in physical literacy, health & safety, program planning for healthy child development, and more. In the water, each camper is swim tested by a qualified lifeguard on their first visit to the pool, which will ensure each child is safe in the water, regardless of their swim skill and experience. Campers are carefully supervised during each pool visit.
